Restoring metal, preserving detail, and giving vintage parts a second life. Bright Blasting Barnstaple was built from a passion for restoring and preserving the things people care about, whether that’s a meaningful project, a piece of engineering history, or a part that simply deserves a second life. Based in North Devon, I specialise in careful blasting work for small to medium-sized components, with a focus on motorcycle parts, vintage fittings, cast iron, and restoration pieces where detail and care matter.
Chris’ Story
Hi, I’m Chris – the person behind Bright Blasting Barnstaple.
Like many restorers, this started long before the machines, workshop or equipment ever existed. I’ve always enjoyed working with mechanical parts, vintage motorcycles and pieces that have a story attached to them. Over time, I began restoring my own projects and realised how often parts were let down by poor surface prep or rushed cleaning. That’s where blasting came in, a process that transforms tired materials, bringing back clean metal ready for refinishing, paint or further restoration.
The idea for Bright Blasting came from seeing how difficult it was for everyday people, hobbyists and classic motorcycle owners in North Devon to get quality blasting done locally, especially for smaller parts. Most blasting services are geared towards large industrial jobs and quick turnaround, not careful restoration.
So, I decided to build something different.

What Makes the Service Different
At Bright Blasting Barnstaple, the focus isn’t on rushing jobs through or treating every material the same. Every item is assessed individually so the correct approach, blasting media and equipment can be chosen. Metals aren’t all equal. Aluminium, steel, stainless, cast iron and softer materials each respond differently.
Some items need dry blasting, while others benefit from vapour blasting, which offers a smoother, more controlled finish without damaging finer details.
This process matters because the surface finish affects everything that comes next. Paint adhesion, powder coating, rust protection and long-term durability.
Whether it’s a motorcycle fork leg, a cast iron shelf bracket, a vintage wheel hub or a custom bit of engineering, the job is never rushed. Each piece is treated like it belongs to someone who values it.
Growing the Workshop
Bright Blasting is still growing, and we’re always improving equipment and capability. As the workshop evolves, we plan to introduce larger blasting setups and additional finishing options, including preparation for powder coating, coatings, and specialist finishes.
Starting small ensures everything is tested, refined and done to the highest standard before expanding further.
Our Approach & Values
Everything we do at Bright Blasting Barnstaple comes back to consistent standards: respect for materials, attention to detail, and an honest approach to restoration. Whether your item is practical, sentimental or part of a larger project, it will be treated with the same level of care.
Care
Every item is treated with respect, from preparation to blasting and finishing. We work as if each part has a personal story or purpose, because often, it does.
Quality
The goal is always the right finish, not the fastest one. Each piece is assessed individually to ensure it receives the correct blasting method, media and handling.
Honesty
If something isn’t suitable for blasting, needs a different process, or requires additional prep, you’ll know before work begins. No surprises, no hidden costs.
We aim to build a trusted local service where hobbyists, restorers and engineers know their items will be handled with care, precision and respect…every time.
